23rd August 2008 - New Choral Work

I have recently composed a new choral work work entitled 'Your Love Surrounds Me' - the work is arranged for piano and SSA. It is dedicated to Richard Stephens and the Cantabile Singers of Pembrokeshire.

Richard Stephens, who is Musical Director of Cantabile Singers, wrote the words for this piece. His words beautifully express the feelings we may have towards those whose love has shaped our lives and whom we have lost, and allow us to look back with gratitude and forward with hope. I am sure these lovely words will positively touch the lives of many people.

It was a great pleasure to write the music for 'Your Love Surrounds Me', and I look forward very much to hearing Cantabile sing it. In fact, I would like to thank Cantabile Singers in advance for the dedication and joy they put into learning all of their music and sharing it with all of us. Thank you Cantabile!

Cantabile Singers of Pembrokeshire PATRON'S CONCERT - Albany Church, Haverfordwest

On Saturday 1st. of December it was my great pleasure to attend the 2007 Patron's Concert given by the Cantabile Singers.  Founded and conducted by Richard Stephens, the Cantabile Singers, a young forward thinking choir, are just over one year old, and are a chorus of women ranging from ages 16 to 60.  They are passionate and committed to providing a repertoire that is mostly recognisable, has a good melody, and is one with which audiences can appreciate and identify with their love of listening to choral music.

As a composer and a listener, I can readily identify with Cantabile Singers and Richard's vision.  Days later, and I can still hear their wonderful sound in my mind and I find myself singing many of the songs I heard them sing that night - a memorable and enjoyable programme of music! Their concert was a pure pleasure, not least for me because this was the first time I had heard a performance of my choral piece 'I will give my heart', which I had written especially for the Cantabile Singers.  What a joy it was to hear their voices and feel their hearts give sound and life to this work.  I feel very privileged indeed, they performed wonderfully, not only this piece, but their entire evening of repertoire. Thank you Richard Stephens and Cantabile Singers!
